I had two fascinating conversations with Marty Fridson, CIO at Lehman Livian Friedson Advisors, around topics in his book "Financial Statements."

The fist conversation delves into the complexities of financial statements and corporate reporting. We discuss how companies often portray their financials to be healthier than reality and how, in light of this, one should navigate financial reporting pitfalls.

Our second conversation focuses on intangible value, the role of goodwill in valuation, and the challenges of assessing numbers involved in an acquisition.

I personally find the second part absolutely fascinating. I read Fridson’s book prior to our conversations and learned a ton. It is not a page-turner but valuable for those seriously interested in learning the behind the scenes of financial reporting.
